Wherever the art of medicine is loved, there is also a love of humanity.

ABOUT THE
FOUNDER

Dr. Swaiman Singh is a globally renowned interventional advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist, a transformative humanitarian, and a trailblazing leader whose relentless pursuit of healthcare and education equity has reshaped lives worldwide. As the Founder and President of the 5 Rivers Heart Association, Dr. Singh has spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives to deliver innovative, cost-effective medical care and champion equitable access to healthcare and education for underserved communities, earning him recognition from the California State Legislature Assembly and admiration from peers and communities alike.

Trained at Drexel University College of Medicine and the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Dr. Singh exemplifies clinical excellence and compassionate leadership. His expertise in interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure, cardiac transplant, and mechanical circulatory support has established him as a preeminent figure in his field. Currently serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor at UC Davis Health, he inspires students and colleagues through his dedication to cutting-edge care and social impact.

In 2012, driven by an unshakable commitment to public service, Dr. Singh founded the 5 Rivers Heart Association in California. The organization’s mission is to revolutionize healthcare delivery by implementing evidence-based policies that prevent disease and dismantle systemic barriers to care and education. Under his visionary leadership, the association has become a global symbol of hope, delivering transformative solutions to underserved regions, particularly in northern India.

During the unprecedented challenges of 2020-2021, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and India’s historic agricultural protests, Dr. Singh’s resolve led him to Delhi. Motivated by his family’s deep-rooted farming legacy and a lifelong dedication to community welfare, he paused his thriving career to provide critical medical care to thousands of protesting farmers facing dire healthcare shortages. His efforts transcended immediate medical relief, addressing systemic inequities in health and education with unparalleled resolve.

In Delhi, Dr. Singh and the 5 Rivers Heart Association established a free medical hospital and community center at the Tikri border protest site, a beacon of compassion in a time of crisis. Supported by thousands of volunteers, this initiative delivered comprehensive healthcare, educational programs, hygiene essentials, housing, clean water, religious centers, sports activities, and essential supplies like food and milk. This holistic model not only saved lives but also empowered communities, fostering resilience and dignity. His tireless work—chronicled by global media outlets like CNN, Al Jazeera, and Forbes India—highlighted his extraordinary leadership under pressure, including providing care amidst violence during the January 26, 2021, protests.

Returning to the United States after the protests concluded in late 2021, Dr. Singh resumed his medical career with renewed purpose. At UC Davis Health, he continues to advance healthcare equity and mentor the next generation of medical professionals. His work with the 5 Rivers Heart Association remains a powerful testament to his ability to unite compassion, innovation, and resilience in pursuit of a more equitable world.

Inspired by the five rivers of Punjab, the 5 Rivers Heart Association embodies Dr. Singh’s unyielding commitment to nourishing communities through accessible healthcare and education. His leadership has garnered widespread acclaim, from heartfelt endorsements by colleagues at UC Davis Health to global recognition for his humanitarian efforts. Join us in supporting Dr. Singh’s mission to forge a future where healthcare and education are universal rights, delivered with compassion and equity for all.

Our Mission

Five Rivers Heart Association is dedicated to reducing fatalities and ending suffering caused by inadequate healthcare and education. Since our inception in 2012, our goal has been to deploy innovative, cost-effective medical solutions while maximizing resource utilization. We operate globally as an independent and neutral entity, working towards health equity. Our expansion now includes medical camps throughout underserved areas in the United States and Northern India, offering free medical care, health screenings, medications, and disaster relief. Our approach seeks to create lasting positive impacts by empowering individuals through education and proactive health measures.

Our Vision

Our vision at Five Rivers Heart Association is centered on transforming lives through education and disease prevention in underserved areas both in the United States and worldwide. Building on our successful healthcare model, we are committed to integrating comprehensive educational initiatives. This involves providing free educational materials and scholarships to students in rural schools, addressing disparities in access to learning resources. Beyond traditional educational support, our focus extends to disease prevention, with an emphasis on fostering health awareness and promoting proactive healthcare practices within these communities.
